Good Luck Lately

Well I stuck to my fast of women this week and it was slightly more difficult than I imagined it would be. I had three opportunities that I choose not to pursue and I feel proud of myself for sticking to what I said I would do. I’m not sure how long I’ll continue it for but it certainly won’t go any longer than it has to.

I’m feeling a little bit in a rut after this weekend. A friend I hadn’t seen in awhile asked me what I’ve been up to (which is a more difficult question than most) and so I described them what a normal week looks like for me: Monday through Friday work 8am to 5pm; and then after work Monday: walk downtown and write my blog and do a devotion, Tuesday night: Play music with my brother, Wednesday night: is usually open, Thursday night: community group, and the for the last 4 weeks I’ve gone to see shows on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights and church Sunday morning.

I was surprised how easily I was able to spell out how routine my last month as been and yet, as predictable as it’s been lately I feel like it’s one of the best seasons of my life. Our landlord tried to raise our rent 87 dollars a month because of an increased PG&E bill for the apartment complex but I wrote a letter explaining how that was illegal because we signed a lease and they apologized they “didn’t realize” they couldn’t do that. I also found a San Jose State coffee mug in the Brick-a-Brack section of the Salvation Army and bought it for good luck.

I also felt totally accepted by the queer community yesterday when I sat at a table with 8 other people I just barely met and had great conversation for about 4 hours.
